Small World Theatre is an international, artist-led arts and culture organisation.
We are based in our beautiful, bespoke creative space in Cardigan, West Wales.
Amongst other things we produce and perform our own original shows and events, run our venue, implement projects and facilitate workshops.

Presenting a range of arts and performance events, mentoring emerging artists/performers, hosting conferences, community events, classes and workshops. The building is an accessible, welcoming space that provides a model of sustainability for other organisations striving towards a zero carbon future.
implementing projects and facilitating workshops
Projects developed and delivered in house, in the community by us and for other agencies. Designing and delivering international projects in arts and theatre for development. We facilitate workshops, design and deliver our own accredited training programmes and also for other organisations. These programmes build skills and confidence with people of different ages and abilities.We are pioneers in developing and using methodologies now increasingly called SEED SCALE.
creative education through the arts and training initiatives
We work in and with primary schools, secondary schools, colleges, teacher training institutions and universities offering programmes of training and workshops for teachers and students. We create touring theatre in education shows in Welsh and English with dedicated workshops, curriculum mapping and teaching packs. We are an experienced AGORED Accreditation Centre working with creative education in the community to help people of all ages and abilities gain meaningful qualifications.

A Not For Profit, Independent company and a registered charity, Theatr Mwldan is a highly successful community enterprise, a company owned and managed by the community that it serves. Every penny spent by customers at Mwldan gets ploughed straight back into the business, improving facilities, and generating employment and income for the local area. This helps to generate our annual turnover in excess of £1.2 million, some 75% of which is earned income, generated from just 25% of core public funding – an impressive return rate on investment.
Mwldan presents a year-round diverse and eclectic professional programme of national and international artistic activity across a wide range of artforms, including drama, music, dance, film, literature, opera, visual and applied arts. We also have one of best film programmes in Wales, offering over 3,000 screenings a year including both mainstream and specialist film releases, 3D screenings and live satellite broadcast from from all over the globe. Having the flexibility of three cinema screens means that we can offer a wider selection of films and special screenings.
With a dedication to innovation, vision and excellence, Mwldan has been described by The Arts Council of Wales as ‘exemplary’ and a ‘model of best practice and excellence’ for its touring and production work. Specialising in touring production and logistics, financial and administrative tour management and with a reputation for the quality and effectiveness of its marketing, Mwldan has provided many artists with the opportunity to extensively tour the fantastic network of venues, theatres and arts centres available within Wales. Over the past eight years Mwldan has co-produced more than 50 touring projects, specialising in world music, traditional music and drama, making us one of Wales’ most prolific producing venues. We have brought many outstanding international acts and artists from over the world to tour Wales and produced projects within Wales that are available for touring worldwide.
Mwldan has an important role in contributing to the local economic, social and cultural regeneration of Cardigan and the surrounding area. Mwldan is a not-for-profit organisation that combines economic activity with a social and ethical purpose. At Mwldan’s heart is the belief that the arts can deliver life-changing and life-enhancing experiences that have the power to change perceptions and increase tolerance, breaking down cultural divides and allowing greater understanding – as relevant for the community we live in as it is for the planet we live on. This vision is at the core of Mwldan and all its activities.
